Collections Officer

Review, build and design of collections strategies and processes required to execute the strategy. This will include support with impairments performance management including rehabilitation of pre- and non-performing loans names, via adequate collections capabilities and systems to manage and reduce impairments by minimising provisions raised and remaining within risk appetite.

Key performance areas

  • Monitor and control the early and late-stage arrears, non-performing loans (NPL) and recoveries. Monitor and control the adherence of the charge-off policy.

  • Account segmentation and prioritisation of delinquent queue management.

  • Train and apply tactical solutions in vendor management and debt collection agencies.

  • Ability to liaise with legal teams and follow up with litigation matters.

  • Understanding of distressed loan assessment techniques for rehabilitation purposes

  • Some insight into the control of bad debts and laid down criteria in respect of law costs, interest in suspense and notional interest, routine and accounting procedures

  • Experience dealing with multiple stakeholders with well-developed verbal and written communication skills; administrative experience with computer literacy, including Microsoft Office with an understanding of PostFin's products.

Educational and experience requirements
  • Diploma/degree in Law, Accounting, Commerce or similar.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in collections, rehabilitation and/or recoveries or credit. Experience at a law firm will be an added advantage. Knowledge and understanding of repayment structures, collateral and collection processes within the banking or microlending environment. Understanding of legalities associated with lending and collateral.
