The Business Development and Sales Officer are responsible for driving organizational growth through the management of smart partnerships, business development initiatives, and sales activities. The role focuses on expanding market presence, strengthening client relationships, and improving performance across public and private sector markets and smart partnerships. The incumbent will assist the supervisor in identifying and implementing strategic opportunities that enhance the organization’s reach, visibility, while ensuring business growth by achieving sales targets.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and manage strategic partnerships that align with the organization’s growth and marketing objectives.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to plan and execute joint marketing initiatives and promotional activities with partners.

  • Support the supervisor in managing and maintaining relationships with public and private sector clients.

  • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and potential growth sectors.

  • Monitor and report on partnership and sales performance, recommending strategies for continuous improvement.

  • Assist in preparing business proposals, partnership agreements, and performance reviews.

  • Coordinate regional visibility and sales initiatives to drive client acquisition and retention.

  • Represent the organization at marketing events, stakeholder engagements, and partnership meetings.

  • Support the supervisor in handling administrative duties and delivering weekly performance feedback to sales agents.

Educational and experience requirements
  • Minimum of a Grade 12 or equivalent.

  • Tertiary qualification in Sales, Marketing or Business Management is an added advantage.

  • At least 2 years of experience in Sales, Marketing, or Business Development, preferably within the financial services or microfinance industry.

  • Experience in client relationship management, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination.

  • A valid Drivers License will be an added advantage

Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Results-driven with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales and performance data.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

  • Proficient in MS Office, Outlook and Excel

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and customer service orientation.
